Somatic sessions

You hold it all together. Who holds you?

A slow, gentle space to come back into your body, feel what you’ve been carrying, and meet the parts of you that learned to shrink so everyone else could be comfortable.

Maybe from the outside, it all looks fine.

You’re deeply loved. Your calendar is full. People come to you. You’ve done the therapy, read the books. And still, there’s a heaviness no one else seems to see.

What people seeWhat you’recarrying
  • You say yes before you’ve checked in with yourself.
  • Being perfect, being easy, being good. It’s exhausting, and it’s never quite enough.
  • Maybe you feel it in your body: a tight jaw, a knot in your chest, a stomach that won’t settle.
  • You know exactly what you should do. Your body just won’t follow.

If something in you just softened a little,
you’re not alone.

Why the body

Understanding isn’t the same as healing.

What youunderstandWhat yourbody stillholds

Many people come to me after years of therapy, books and retreats. They can explain their pattern perfectly, and they’re tired of talking about it.

This work goes where talking can’t: into what your body has been holding. We slow down, follow what you feel, and meet old protective patterns with curiosity instead of force, so the old response can finally change, not just be explained.

I draw on Somatic Experiencing, Gabor Maté’s Compassionate Inquiry and conscious connected breathwork.

What a session feels like

Sixty minutes to slow all the way down.

Every session follows what’s most alive for you that day, and you’re always in control of your pace. Some sessions are uncomfortable. That’s often where the change happens.

  1. The first few minutes

    01 Arrive

Before we go anywhere near what’s hard, we find what already feels steady in you. It gives your body somewhere to land.

  2. Then

    02 Listen

You bring whatever is alive for you. We notice where it lives in your body and let the mind slow down enough to hear it.

  3. Most of the session

03 Follow what wants to happen

Sometimes we stay with a sensation until your body can settle or release what it’s been holding. Sometimes we gently ask how far back a feeling goes. Sometimes we explore an underlying pattern or belief. We go where your body leads.

  4. The last ten minutes

    04 Return

We come back slowly. I’ll follow up and I’ll check in the next day. Feelings can keep moving for a day or two, and that’s welcome.

How it unfolds over time

One client’s journey, in her own words.

8 sessions over 4 months

  1. At the start

“Completely terrified to close my eyes and be in my body.”

  2. Along the way

“This is the most honest I’ve been able to be.”

  3. Four months in

“It’s not as scary of a place. This is the window expanding for me.”

“I’ve been looking for tools to understand what this is for so long. Now I’m doing body check-ins before bed, telling myself I’m safe, and when something activates me, I can find my way back.”

In their words

Hi, I’m Jacquelyn

I know what it is to stay small so everyone else stays comfortable.

For most of my life, I was led by old patterns that kept me feeling small and alone: people pleasing, perfectionism, pridefully holding it all together. Exploring the subtle places my body was holding on is how I began to find the self that had been there all along.

My path went from health coaching to retreats to breathwork, and now to Somatic Experiencing and Compassionate Inquiry. What I love about this work is how quiet it is, almost imperceptible in the moment, and yet so powerful.

Questions

Things people often ask

Jacquelyn at home in a calm, light room
Is this therapy?

No. This work can feel deeply therapeutic, but it isn’t a substitute for therapy or medical treatment, and I’m not a licensed therapist. My approach is body-based and trauma-informed. It can sit alongside therapy if you already have a therapist.

I don’t know what to work on, and I’ve never done this before.

You don’t need to know, and you don’t need any experience. Many people arrive with no idea where to start, or with five things at once. We begin with whatever feels most alive that day, and I guide you every step of the way.

I’m always in my head. What if I can’t feel anything in my body?

That’s very common, and it’s exactly where we start. Noticing that you can’t feel much is already information. We go slowly, and sensation tends to arrive once your body feels safe enough.

What if it gets intense, or I cry?

You set the pace. You can slow down, stop an exercise, or pause at any time, and you’re never pushed past what your body can hold. Tears are welcome, and so is laughter, and so is feeling nothing at all.

Come once, or let it become a practice.

One session can bring you back to yourself. Twelve give your body time to really change. Every session is one to one, online. Not sure yet? Start with a free call and we’ll find your way in together.
